On April 10, 2025, the Poznań International Fair became a venue for inspiring debates and insightful presentations during the 2nd Carbon Capture Congress.
The event attracted both national and international stakeholders from across the sector. The CCUS Poland Association served as a knowledge partner of the congress, while the organisers from Biomass Magazine once again ensured that the congress provided a valuable platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience.

Among the many speakers were experts in innovative technologies, researchers, and government officials, who jointly addressed the key challenges facing Poland in reducing CO₂ emissions.
Participants had the opportunity to attend engaging lectures and join panel discussions that tackled current issues and explored the future of carbon capture and storage technologies.
The congress not only inspired action but also fostered networking, which may contribute to the dynamic growth of the CCUS sector in Poland.

In the opening speech, Krzysztof Bolesta, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Climate and Environment, emphasised the importance of CCUS technologies, highlighting their key role in the decarbonisation of industry. He noted that, despite the development of other technologies, CCUS remains essential in the path toward climate neutrality. He also presented the government’s strategic approach to preparing Poland for the large-scale implementation of CCUS.

Among the many relevant topics discussed during the congress were the challenges related to CO₂ transport. In her presentation, Beata Superson-Polowiec from the Polowiec & Partners Law Firm pointed to the need for harmonising CO₂ transport regulations across EU member states and drew attention to the absence of dedicated legal frameworks for CO₂ pipelines.

International cooperation in developing the CCUS market was the subject of a panel discussion featuring representatives from Norwegian Energy Partners (NORWEP). The speakers highlighted the importance of knowledge exchange and collaboration with NGOs in the context of CCUS implementation in Poland.

The Leaders’ Forum: "The Future of CCUS in Poland" strongly underscored the need for dialogue between the industry and policymakers to ensure stable and realistic development of the technology. Responding to the call for innovation, representatives from the Ministry of Climate and Environment stressed that CC(U)S is gaining strategic importance and requires government support.

The final panel, moderated by Dr. Eng. Paweł Gładysz, brought together experts from WiseEuropa, the Clean Air Task Force, and the Centre for Climate and Energy Analysis (CAKE). The discussion focused on climate policy, the potential of CCUS as a tool for achieving negative emissions, and the need for targeted incentives for investments in biomass-based technologies integrated with CCS.

The second edition of the Carbon Capture Congress in Poland marked an important step toward creating a platform for effective collaboration in this field. Both speakers and participants emphasised that the future of the sector depends on coordinated action and synergy among all stakeholders.

The CCUS Poland Association is proud to support initiatives that contribute to the development and implementation of innovative solutions in carbon capture, utilisation, and storage. Our ongoing involvement in promoting this area is essential for reaching climate neutrality goals and supporting sustainable development.

We already look forward to the next editions of the congress! Let’s continue working together to enable the successful rollout of CCUS technologies in Poland.
