The 3rd Carbon Capture Congress will take place on 17–18 March 2026 and will be dedicated to the development of carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) technologies in Poland.
This year’s edition of the Congress will focus on the systemic, regulatory and market conditions for CCUS deployment, bringing together perspectives from industry, public authorities and the expert community. We invite you to join the 3rd Carbon Capture Congress in mid-March.
Carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) technologies are becoming an increasingly important pillar of European climate policy. With significant potential in this area, Poland is now facing a key question: what systemic, regulatory and market conditions must be in place for CCUS solutions to be deployed at scale? These issues will be at the centre of discussions during the 3rd Carbon Capture Congress, to be held on 17–18 March 2026.
In the face of mounting climate challenges and the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the effective management of CO₂ is also gaining strategic importance in Poland. Bringing together expert knowledge, industrial experience and the perspective of public decision-makers can play a crucial role in the development of the domestic CCUS market. The Carbon Capture Congress provides a platform for dialogue aimed at intensifying debate, fostering knowledge exchange and supporting the implementation of carbon capture, storage and utilisation solutions.
The first day of the event, 17 March 2026 in Katowice, will be dedicated to the conference programme, focusing on the systemic, regulatory and market aspects of CCUS development. The agenda will include discussions on, among others, the legal framework for carbon capture and storage in Poland, the role of CCUS in achieving national and EU climate targets, as well as financing mechanisms and the bankability of capital-intensive CCUS projects.
An important part of the conference will also be the exchange of experience between representatives of energy-intensive industries, the energy sector, public administration and technology providers. Discussions will address issues such as the development of CO₂ transport and storage infrastructure, cross-border cooperation, the integration of CCUS with other low-emission solutions, and challenges related to public acceptance and project implementation at national and regional levels.
On the second day of the Congress, 18 March, a study visit to Zabrze is planned. Workshops and a site visit will take place at the Institute for Fuel and Energy Technology (ITPE), including a tour of the CCT+ research complex, unique on a European scale and currently being expanded with a Power-to-X (P2X) installation. Participants will have the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into operational research infrastructure and the practical aspects of CCUS technology development.
The Carbon Capture Congress is addressed to representatives of energy-intensive industries, in particular the cement, steel, petrochemical and pulp and paper sectors, as well as to stakeholders from the power generation, district heating and coal sectors. Participants will also include representatives of state-owned companies, financial institutions and public authorities, CCUS technology providers, installation contractors, and ESG and CSRD specialists.
The conference will be held under the substantive patronage of the CCUS Poland Association, contributing our expert background and experience in the development of systemic and regulatory frameworks for CCUS technologies in Poland and across Europe.
